wishful thinking

it's been a little more than three years i've been holed up in the basement. i'm not going to lie, its really nice that someone else opens the gas bill, pays for fiber optic internet, and lets me raid the food storage room, yet i still have a private entrance and my own kitchen. really, this is a little piece of heaven.

and yet, there is something to be said for the control and independence that comes from being totally on ones own. you know i'm right; or that i've spent way too much time with 9th graders and their perceptions of independence. either way, the day is coming (within this calendar year) where my residence will be changing. i hope, anyway.

in anticipation of this distant transition, i've done a little shopping; with my hypothetical anticipated budget of course. can't go dreaming way too big...

this is sort of where i had set my sights:

a charming little old house that would have enough space for us but not so much that i'd buy way too much craft stuff and acquire too many pets.

or this one:

i like that it has a garage

but then i started checking other cities, whose school districts are not currently in the middle of a hiring freeze. you know, so i could actually, i don't know, pay the mortgage of the house i pick? i know, crazy thought.

so i stumbled on this one. i have avoided the thought of a condo because i want a fenced yard for our future pup and my present offspring, a place to plant my own garden (couldn't do that in the last condo) and feel i could be outside with a little privacy, but it's so darn cute i thought, "maybe," especially if snow removal is included and i wouldn't have to dig myself out of the parking lot at 6:30 a.m. all winter long. yes, condo's have appeal.

of course, there is this one, which i've had my sights on for months now. can't figure out why she hasn't sold. are there holes punched in walls? horrible neighbors? mildewed anything? just can't tell from a picture, though if i had my complete say, this is more like where i'd choose to be.

i really like the extra parking space off the side and a garage! oh, sweet, blessed garage! still, not too big and yet not too small. perfecto.

but then - i saw this puppy! seriously it's in the exact same budget range as the previous four (like- within two thousand), but in a slightly different locale (one which i happen to like). woah, nellie. the dreams are getting a little out of hand here, methinks. might be able to buy it, but wouldn't be able to heat or decorate it.

and if you can't afford to live in it, what's the point of buying a house?
